I have this 20' 1970 rayson craft circle boat with dual bench seats. The last time it was regestered was 1991 who knows the last time it was in the water. I feel like I have been on every websight out there and have not seen one like it. Does anyone have any info on this boat? I am in the middle of this rehab and having a great time with it, but it would be nice to know a little more about it. Thanks

Thanks Mike I will have to check it out

Hi Paul,

Post some pictures on the v-driveboat.com forum under the "Boat Identification" section, or on the Performanceboats.com forum in the v-drive section.  Those website forums are much more interactive and there are guys on there who can help you find out the origins or maybe the history of your particular boat.  Good luck, hope you find the info you're looking for!

Nice site, I'm looking for different manufacturers that used the same or very similar outboard hull. Do you have any of that info? I know there were a lot of throwbacks, particularly someone made a 14 footer, I like to get ahold of for one of those high speed runs thru my second childhood.

I traded an old travel trailer last year for a 1964 Raysoncraft flatbottom.  Right now, it is being restored, in part, by Jim Yougblood.  Yes...THE JIM YOUNGBLOOD.  I have a pic i wanted to post, but cannot.  He is installing new carpet now.  I have had the motor and drive gone through (454), seats recovered, and now the carpet.  No one in the Monroe LA area wants to paint a boat obviously.  Mr. Jim said he would paint it for me this winter if I can hold off.  I may do it.  Would make for a good story.

Love to see it

Thanks for the comments guys!  Bill - Not sure if you remember me but we've "talked" through the v-driveboat forum a few times about gas tanks.  I've followed the progression of your boat over there, love it!

I should have some new content here on the site soon, Harlan Orrin gave me some pictures and info when I was out in CA and Jeremy B. on here sent me some scans of literature he has.  Just need to make some time and get it on here, but winter is coming if nothing else! Will try to do it sooner though:)

Thanks again guys!

I have owned a 1975 21'DC, since 98. I am second owner, and did a pretty complete restoration finished in 99. During the rebuild spent some phone time with Rudy Ramos and Ray Defir. Lots of great history in boatbuilding, racing and waterskiing. Through Ray ended up meeting Billy Hayes and have been great friends ever since. He built a 20' GN with the help of Ray, who borrowed a mold from Rudy back in 84. That Ford powered Rayson has more hours on it than any working Ski Boat in the world. It still has original gelcoat, and has no problem pulling 10-12 skiers up on slalom when building pyramids. Old school no doubt. I love RC's and the history they represent. Great site!
