64 Years old. Retired airline pilot. I have owned this 196? 18' Rayson since 1970. It has been through a couple of restorations. It currently sports a Chevy 454 with lots of polished aluminum coupled to a Velvet Drive transmission and Aeromarine Thoroughbred (original 12 degree V drive).

About Me

I have been collecting and restoring (some) vintage boats for about 40 years so far.

Largest is a 1937 32' Chris now back on the front burner for interior completion, engine swap, etc.

Been a member of ACBS for longer and have some faster, older runabouts including the

unrestored R-Craft. It is 18-19' with ply/glass hull and a wood deck, dash, seats. Came w/ small Hemi and 3 Stromberg 97's. It is solid, needs cosmetic resto and probably a trans. to be friendly to use.

Am considering selling,   $5K ???

I am trying to obtain information about how I may go about locating my grandparents Rayson Craft. I have a registration number. The boat was last seen in Torrance, CA hull only.

About Me

I've been on Lake Norman NC as a 'weekender' since I was a kid, and full time for 23 years now.  I found my first Raysoncraft at a local junk boat dealer and sorta rescued it- a '72 LP hull that had been used and abused.  It's now in the hands of Richie Willet in TN, since I found an original and mostly complete LP that I acquired and put back in service.  Since it's never been restored, I have tried to correct some rigging issues, fix necessary things, and keep it running.  That said, it' needs paint and an engine overhaul to be really what I want.  That'll have to wait since I have also acquired Paul and Marsha FItzgerald's 17'6" Raysoncraft outboard that Paul himself built at the factory back in the Seventies and rigged ultimately with a Merc 200.  I'm doing quite a bit of cleanup and repair on it and intend to have it on the water for the 2016 season if there are no substantial engine issues that we can't correct easily.  I've already cut out the fiberglass tanks and have a pair of fabricated aluminum ones ready to install once the engine is sorted out.  Then it'll be on to the other systems such as steering, electrics, and cosmetics. It's October 2015, so I'd better be getting busy!
